I Want to Live Inside The Bookshelf Apartment

The bookshelf stair is still one of my favorite home improvements ever, but this bookshelf apartment by Rintala Eggertsson bests it by converting your whole 6,000-book library into one intimate living space.

This Is the Only Way You Can Run Underwater

Pool Sprint. A track that sits at the bottom of the swimming pool a lets you run underwater. It looks like a formidable way to exercise. Running in the open after trying this must feel like flying.

The WTF Photo Of E3 2010

Does this picture make sense to you? I can explain it, if you'd like.
You are looking at a scene from Konami's wacky E3 2010 press conference. The two man are game developers who were working here, explaining the new game Never Dead. It's a third-person shooter, a game about a guy with guns who shoots a lot of demons and/or monsters. This guy can be dismembered, but that won't stop him. He can put his body back together. What better way to show this than pretend to have your head knocked off?
No trick photography people!
The Konami man put his head back on his shoulders a second later.

Sweet Ice Cream Light

Looks awesome. I wonder how many people will get tricked for it though.

The Starship Enterprise's Universal Remote

The Cyclops universal remote would fit in so well in someone's Star Fleet quarters, I'm surprised it doesn't have a replicator button on it. Fortunately, you won't have to wait for the far-flung future to own one.
The Cyclops, from GenosTV, is a wireless universal remote that's meant to be ergonomically superior for two-handed use. One version will be designed for all consumer electronics, while apparently there will be another that's geared more specifically towards gaming systems. They'll also incorporate Bluetooth, meaning you can use this bad boy to send text messages as well.
As for what star date you'll be able to have one of your own: there's no official word yet, but apparently the Cyclops is "ready to go to manufacturing" and should be available in time for the holidays this year. Presumably the instruction manual tells you how to set it to stun. [Digital Trends]

The Infinity Cocktail Table Will Suck Your Soul

The Infinity Cocktail Table uses mirrors and LED lights to create the illusion of an infinite hole going down your home's floor, all the way down to Earth's magma core. It's like a fancy door to Hell's most exclusive club.

It's also one of the naffest tables in the history of mankind. At $880 a pop, it will be wise to avoid it. [Amazon.co.uk]

I want to buy something like this. :3

This Toaster Is Actually a Dead Person

This is Anne Lindeboom. She was born in 1920 and died in 1984. Now, she is a toaster. Or better said, her ashes are.

The toaster was created by Dutch artist Wieke Somers. She uses a prototype printing machine to create these objects, mixing dead people ashes and epoxy, which get melted in layers following a 3D model.

Because of this, I want to become something. Oh, if I die, I want to become a pillow!

100,000 LEGO Bricks Build One Hell of a Robotic Chess Set

Monster Chess is a big fat "checkmate" to all other do-it-yourself chess sets. The incredible set took a team of 4 over a year to construct, using $30,000 worth of LEGO bricks. And it's even more impressive in action:

Look's fucking awesome, to be honest. o.o

The Spyder III, the World's Most Powerful Portable Laser, Is a Real Life Lightsaber

Built with the blue-laser diode of a dismantled Casio projector, the $200 Spyder III Pro Arctic is the world's most powerful portable laser. It can permanently blind you and set your skin—or anything else, really—on fire almost instantly.

The diodes in Casio's new mercury-free Green Slim projectors apparently allow for unprecedentedly powerful portable lasers, and Wicked Lasers has gleefully harvested them for the 1 Watt Spyder III. Comparing it to the $2000 Sonar, the company's reigning portable laser powerhouse, Wicked Lasers explains that the blue Spyder III laser is 2000 times brighter to the human eye, and, at $200, 1/10th the price.

It just looks crazy. I might get one, for the lulz!

Your Music Makes Me Want To Stick Bullets In My Ears

There are songs that make me want to shoot myself and then there are songs that make me want to stick bullet casings in my ears. 18K gold 9mm bullet casing earphones, that is. The Teknine Nine Millimeter earphones are made by a company called MUNITIO and almost sound like a decent deal for $250

If only they could be really useful...

The Gates of Hell Just Opened In Guatemala

"This can't be real" was my first thought. Then I checked the source: The Guatemalan government. This sinkhole appeared last sunday in a street intersection of Ciudad de Guatemala.

A sinkhole is a natural depression caused by the removal of underground soil by water. Usually, it happens when the substrate is formed by limestone, carbonate rock, salt beds or any other rock that is easily eroded by water streams. The process could be slow, but sometimes the land just cracks open without notice. In this case, it happened suddenly, swallowing an entire house. The cause: Massive underground water torrents created by tropical storm Agatha.
